What is the Quick Response Team (QRT)?

The Tuscarawas County Quick Response Team (QRT) was formed in the Fall of 2017 in response to the increase in local opiate overdose deaths. Funding made available by the Office of the Ohio Attorney General made it possible Tuscarawas County first responders and addiction treatment professionals to form a partnership addressing the need for outreach to individuals who have experienced a non-fatal overdose. This outreach includes providing information on locally available treatment options, as well as help facilitating immediate access to withdrawal management treatment if necessary.

The Tuscarawas County Quick Response Team consists of trained individuals from the New Philadelphia Fire Department, Tuscarawas Country Sheriff’s Office, and professional clinical staff from OhioGuidestone and SpringVale Health Centers. This team visits the homes of non-fatal overdose victims within 7 days of the overdose episode, providing a personal, face-to-face opportunity to answer questions and recovery support.
